David, brother,
I guess I don't use the term stepmother because my Dad remarried only a couple of years ago and I've been out of the house several years now. It's not that I don't care for her. I would appreciate your prayers on her behalf. Pray for me as well that I may show her an unusual degree of kindness. She has been in the habit of leaving when we (my family) came to visit my Dad. Prior to our last visit we had prayed that she might relax with us some and God answered our prayer -- she stayed the whole time we were there, although at times I could tell that our very presence was somewhat annoying to her.
Originally she attended worship services with my Dad, but she became discouraged by the tone where he worships -- which was not hard to do, I'm sorry to say. I know that my Dad really loves her, but sometimes when it comes to his beliefs he can tend to fall back on quoting the dogma instead of just expressing his faith -- if you know what I mean. Of course, I believe what it says in Eph: God works in us beyond our abilities if we have faith. That's what I'm praying for my Dad. Theology, words, arguments can all be denied rather easily but active love, the love of Christ demonstrated, breaks down walls.
Thanks for your prayers. You have been an ecouragement to me personally. |
