Re: Quinta -
This doesn't sound too exciting for the Quinta folks who were looking to "drive" the manufacturing activities for the OAW drive themselves. They've been shut down from doing that and now the technology is up for grabs at the different design centers.

With all the stuff the design centers have on their plate already, it doesn't seem likely that OAW will get a fond welcome. Besides, why would the desktop or enterprise design center folks be interested in a 10+GB OAW when they can do it with magnetics alone (at least for now).

Sounds to me that without a dedicated group with a commitment to get the concept to work from start to finish (which they had) the OAW will languish.

The folks at TeraStor must see this as their window of opportunity, and with the problems they've been having, they probably need all the opportunity they can get right now.

Any other thoughts about the 300+ million Seagate investment in Quinta now??

Regards,
LT
