Dear Keith, I'll answer as honestly as I can. PARS remains my top holding because of several things:
a) it's one of few emerging biotechs that are on their way to positive cash flow, here from the Alrex/Lotemax drugs, already launched in the US and soon to be in Europe.
b) it's got a big potential for several blockbuster markets (brain trauma, stroke, etc.) with HU-211.
c) its management seems bright, energetic and future oriented. (ok, they need work on PR, but I am under the impression from a talk with PARS that they are in the midst of hiring some bigger PR guns external to the firm).
On the less bright side, the stock acts like a dog -- shorts have been involved, but it's clear that some longs have been getting out. Of course, that was also true before the FDA approvals last winter and, boy, those folks who got out after waiting so long must have felt bad when the stock zoomed 100% shortly after.
I've been told that Haim Aviv himself chose the Waldorf to hold the annual meeting in order to make it a "celebratory" occasion. Sounds to me like management thinks it's going to have something to celebrate soon. Lining up two key neurosurgical conferences right after the unblinding of the HU-211 trials also suggests management is expecting good news.
Hopefully we'll be told something newsworthy at the Sept. 16th meeting. I still have room to add to my PARS holdings and will do so after that meeting.
