Easier said than done. Rolling up usually follows when the stock has jumped above the strike price, and one is trying to lock in an even higher gain. 9 out of 10 times, one feels compelled to roll up, perhaps because the greed inherent in being human! When do you EVER roll down? You mean when selling puts?
