Beware of that $30 for 400kb/sec offer

for v.2 hardware/software DirecPC solution.
the fact of the matter is you are constantly
SHARING satellite bandwidth with other people
and often your performance can slow to a crawl.
I've been trying to download a 34mb game demo
for the past 3 nights, and each time I get a
burst of 300kb/sec for a minute, and then it
gets down to a 9kb/sec crawl. I know it's
not the ftp site the game files on, as my
normal home page browsing is slow as well.
Remember, they are short at least one
satellite right now, so additional capacity
may be slow in coming. If cable modems are
available where you live, then avoid this
product. If your only other choice is ISDN,
then maybe look into duplexing two regular
56k v90 modems with your ISP first, before
getting this dish. I'm stuck with it now,
but If I did not have that $500 frisbee on
my roof, I'd probably just get an extra
phone line, and duplex 2 modems together,
since paying usage for ISDN is not an option
for me, as I'm online over 200 hours a month.
