Scott and Tokyo, just thought I'd jump into your "argument" here. The correct comparison is .50 vs. .30; the reason your math doesn't get to .50 is that the fully diluted number of shares can include convertible debt, warrants and options. While the share count would increase from conversion or exercise of these instruments, the company would receive cash and/or eliminate interest payments in return, thus improving the net interest figure and thus the net income figure to used in the numerator.
I am extremely interested in the reason for the huge short interest however, as shorts are frequently correct when they show that much conviction.
