You used two "ifs". First of all, the Celeron A has to cost nearly twice what Intel could be making Pentium MMXs for, so even if ASPs rise, I doubt margins will.
Secondly, what happens to Intels ASPs when the Celeron A cannibalizes the heck out of the Pentium II? Margins?
Granted, if Intel can pull off their proposed marketing segmentation mumbo jumbo they will be OK...but as I type the real truth about the speed of the Celeron A vs the Pentium II is spreading like wildfire over the internet to millions of educated would-be computer buyers.
These are very uncertain times for Intels marketing mumbo jumbo.
How long can Intel keep this dirty little secret?
