<< Not sure why that computerworld article and MSFT's backing away from big claims about NT hasn't helped Sun more. Isn't fear of NT the major thing holding back this stock? Any opinions? >>

I think the real thing holding back Sun's stock is the fact that most people don't understand their market. Windows is easy to understand (atleast on the surface). You see it everywhere. People say "oh yeah, Windows, that's what makes all the computers go". Sun has good numbers on the bottom line, but it's not as sexy.

Java has also gotten a lot of attention, but isn't making much money for Sun, atleast not yet. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think potential investors may put too much emphasis on Java when evaluating Sun.

Bottom line is this: "Internet growth" = "Sun hardware sales". Period. If you think the Internet is a passing fad, then you should bail out of Sun.
