Chief, Diatreme: A breccia filled volcanic pipe that was formed by a gaseous explosion I believe the pipe itself, is vertical in orientation. My guess at what you consider a "cap" might be considered the whole plateu region on top of the mountain. Seems like most of it is mineralized or the potential to be minerlized.
