I have never gotten inside the spread on a market order. (But have rarely had that happen on NYSE trades with my other broker, either.)

However, all most ALL of my trades are inside of the the spread (I am a cheap *&^%#!). Try placing a limit order inside of the spread, and I think you will be pleased.

On fast-moving, high-liquidity stocks, you might even try selling at the offer and buying at the bid. I have been able to occasionally sell at the offer.
