heres my point marcos, janice is always going someplace with her questions, they keep implying aznt's tree is a derivative or is stevia. heres my question is the knock on stevia the fda approval or did it have an aftertaste or did it make people sick? reason i was wondering is because if it's fda the food suplements dont need fda ap. if its the aftertaste angle then if aznt's is different and better then we could have a huge hit here. if it's that it makes people sick then the ton of web sites i found selling stevia on the web would shoot holes in each of these arguments. heres one example

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How Sweet It Is!--------
STEVIA EXTRACT (pure extract of the herb Stevia Rebaudiana - "honeyleaf") Mother Nature has given those of us with figures that go beyond "Victoria's Secret" a great gift - a natural sweetener with virtually no calories or aftertaste, that's economical to use. Stevia, also called the "sweet herb of Paraguay," is a perennial shrub of the aster family, with incredibly sweet, small leaves. The leaves when dried and ground fine can be used as a natural sugar substitute. A teaspoon of dried stevia leaves is sweeter than a cup of sugar - without the calories.
What Doctor's Are Saying About Stevia--------
Dr. Julian Whitaker Dr. Whitaker's Newsletter, Dec. 1994 "Stevia...is not only non-toxic, but has several traditional medicinal uses. The Indian tribes of South America have used it as a digestive aid, and have also applied it topically for years to help wound healing. Recent clinical studies have shown it can increase glucose tolerance and decrease blood sugar levels. Of the two sweeteners (aspartame and stevia), stevia wins hands down for safety." Leigh Broadhurst, Ph.D Chemist and Nutritional Consultant "All the benefits of saccharin and none of the drawbacks. When used correctly, stevia doesn't have a taste...it's just sweet, unlike saccharin, which becomes quickly bitter when overused. Much more concentrated than aspartame."
Robert C. Atkins, M. D. From Dr. Atkins "Health Revelations" Newsletter, April 1994 "Stevia has virtually no calories. It dissolves easily in water and mixes well with all other sweeteners...I used it myself in delicious homemade ice cream that is extremely low in carbohydrates."
