"since the beginning of August, 1997 the DJI is up just 4.2%" biz.yahoo.com P.S. I'm proud to say that was precisely the month I got out of the general market. AND compare the Russel 2000 performance. AND remember the fees mutual funds charge and that they almost always do worse than the market. We are in those beggining stages of bear markets where few people are making money, but everybody thinks they are.
