I don't think you've been listening closely enough. Those who were listening the Sunday prior to Bob's recent absence heard Bob emphatically state in the last two-minute segment of his show (which often begins with the word "Well, . .") that he believes the equity markets are on their way to new highs in the months ahead. I inferred from his emphasis that he likely wouldn't be on the following weekend, and he made the statement in a way that few listening would forget. Hardly a "total lack of concern for his audience".

I think it is unrealistic to expect any guest host to serve as a messenger for Bob.
