Hey, James; I'm fairly certain you can't legally do it because you have to have a margin account to short and that would mean mixing IRA money with borrowed money. I have a rollover IRA and I KNOW you can't in one of those. OT, re: your post to me a few days ago: I never had a hound dog. Your boyhood sounds idyllic, just the sort of thing I would wish for my boy. He's got it pretty good but wandering the fields in Maryland with your hound dogs--well, what memories to have! Now, if you tell me you also used to go into the woods and pick blackberries with your hound dogs, I might just scream! #8~o>
