Windows 98 also bundles WavePhore's WaveTop Internet content push service. WaveTop is an advertising-supported service that downloads its content over the VBI, using signals from PBS stations around the country. It stores the data to disk for instantaneous viewing. WaveTop also requires you to have a TV tuner card in your PC, but you get a lot of premium Web content without needing a live Internet connection.
Even though WaveTop uses the VBI to send it's data and WebTV can accept digital data delivered over the VBI, WebTV's guide doesn't recognize WaveTop as a channel. The lack of integration between the two services diminishes their usefulness.
