>> if Castlewood does get their product to market at their target price, and if it doesn't have a lot of cost-cutting glitches (as the Sparq apparently does), it does seem to be something that could rejuvenate the removable storage market. << I checked out the Orb at PC Expo back in June here in NYC. I believe that they are taking reliability very very seriously, and not rushing this product out in the marketplace until any bugs are worked out. SparQ was a rush job from Syquest that was meant to try and bail a sick company out of the hole. SparQ was announced with near total suprise by Syquest, and was totally rushed into production, resulting in hundreds of thousands of people becoming unknowing beta testers. Based upon my brief conversation with the guy at the tiny Castlewood booth at PC Expo, and the info on www.castlewoodsystems.com, I sincerily believe that Castlewood is thoroughly testing Orb before releasing it. The guy at the PC Expo booth said to me they were presently then addressing utility glitches. But the drive ran fine installed in the tower computer he demoed. As a side note, Those Orb discs sure are a lot thinner than Jaz or Syjet's discs. Too bad owners of Zip Plus and SparQ never received Castlewood's kind of concern about intensive beta testing before the release of those disastors.
