I saw on the TeeVee moments ago ..

Perhaps a default on Russian bonds, causing a sharp drop in S&P futures.

Japanese are being slow to take the actions to support their banking system. (In other words the Japanese bond sell off is set back, for the moment.)

Not on TeeVee:

The US stock market has been showing the divergence that had been the hallmark of action in the USD/YEN ratio. Today I expect to continue to see a flight to quality that will include a upsurge in the price of US bonds, as cash leaves US stocks. While there may be a shortage in bonds now, that will change in the blink of an eye when the Japanese decide to generate the cash to support their banks.

Today is even a better day than before for bond puts.
