DynamicWeb Adds Service Merchandise to Growing List of Clients Deploying Web-Based EDI for Business-to-Business E-Commerce

Fortune 500 Retail Chain Using the Internet

To Improve Supply Chain Efficiencies

FAIRFIELD, N.J., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- DynamicWeb(TM) Enterprises, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: DWEB), a developer of Internet electronic commerce (EC) and EDI business solutions, today announced that Service Merchandise Company, Inc. (NYSE: SME) is the latest national retailer to agree to use its Web-based EDIxchangeBuy Service. EDIxchangeBuy provides a customized Extranet designed to leverage the global reach of the Web so companies can automate their entire supply chains by communicating electronically between large-, medium- and small-sized suppliers.

"After an intensive search, we chose DynamicWeb as our strategic EC Services partner for Web-based EDI because of superior functionality and their ability to provide custom enhancements quickly to meet Service Merchandise's requirements," said Destiny Stumhofer, Director of Quick Response and Administration for Service Merchandise. "DynamicWeb has developed an infrastructure to provide a swift ramping phase and to accommodate the needs of our suppliers. Since suppliers only need Internet access to utilize the service, we're confident they will experience a smooth transition from paper to electronic commerce."

Service Merchandise joins a growing list of Fortune 1000 companies including Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD), Linens 'n Things (NYSE: LIN) and Southern New England Telecommunications Corp. (NYSE: SNG) who are using DynamicWeb's EDIxchangeBuy service. Service Merchandise will roll-out the EDIxchangeBuy service among its non-EDI suppliers to exchange purchase orders, purchase order changes, invoices and advance ship notices electronically. Electronic documents sent to and from vendors at the Web site will be integrated into Service Merchandise's legacy systems through their EDI system.

"As the market for Web-based EDI solutions continues to grow, we are extremely pleased that Service Merchandise chose DynamicWeb for their EC extension strategy," said Steve Oakie, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for DynamicWeb. "By outsourcing the development, Web hosting and ramping of suppliers to DynamicWeb, Service Merchandise minimizes in-house dedicated resources while effectively expanding electronic commerce to their smaller suppliers. EDIxchangeBuy gives Service Merchandise the ability to add functionality to maximize supply-chain collaboration."

EDIxchangeBuy is a part of DynamicWeb's EDIxchange Enterprise Suite which consists of two Internet-based electronic catalog solutions EDIxchangeBuy and EDIxchangeSell that leverage the global reach of the Web to extend an EC Enterprise to suppliers and customers who are not EDI capable. EDIxchangeBuy manages the technical aspects of EDI on behalf of the suppliers, who only need a Web browser and Internet access to electronically exchange business documents with Service Merchandise.
