Food for thought - Markets are extremely volatile and there is a hurricane Bonnie about to roll across the east coast, south of the metropolitan, but close enough to cause damage. I forget which storm was the last big one to cause this kind of uproar, but I do recall there being major problems with phone lines and internet access particularly. Always prepare for the worst. Preparation is key.
Know what you will do if YOUR phone lines get knocked around or phone lines somewhere along the internet/telephone backbone.

Here are a few recommendation:
1. Even if you submit orders via. internet technologies, make sure yo have all the telephone numbers for your firms' trading desks, customer services, etc. Ask the firm if they have backup cellular racks and the numbers for those backup services.

2. Make sure you have a cell phone incase your phones get tapped down for the day/days. Ask a freind if you can borrow their phone but do NOT take your spouses phone that they use for emergencies.

2. Incase any of the quote vendors have problems, know where you can get backups. Know backup server addresses, as well as other quote vendors that might fill the void.

Maybe nothing happens at all. Maybe some tree takes out the internet connection from SP Comstock or some other internet broker. Whatever it is, prepare for the worst and you will minimize the downside to any catastrophe.

Lastly, a rule I always recommend, is that if tech isnt working, or something is off, dont' trade. It isnt worth it. You'llmake it some other day. Sit it out.
