Darleen,
Can you help me out here, I'm trying very hard to understand something?
OK, We are told by every market expert that the market is ALWAYS a better investment than buying and holding the metal - Right?
Well, Last year, I caught a coin shop going out of business. I bought a big bunch of Silver Eagles & Maple Leaves. Paid $.45 above spot(because I had cash). Now, those coins are up better than 12.9%.(+ now worth a greater premium over spot because they are Eagles and maple leaves)
Now, if I had bought the Vanguard Fund that covers the Russell 2000, I would have lost 11.4%.
How is losing money better than making it?

ps
Next couple of days, i may get better off on gold.
