*** Study says drug can help with shyness disorder

People suffering from an anxiety disorder that makes them extremely
shy could overcome their timidness with a new drug, according to a
study published Tuesday. SmithKline Beecham sells the drug,
paroxetine, as PAXIL, the drug company that funded the study
appearing in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association.
Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco said the
drug appeared to improve the quality of life for 55% of persons
suffering from a severe form of the disorder who received it during a
12-week study. Scientists call the condition social phobia or social
anxiety disorder and it affects about 5% of the U.S. population. see
