I'll accept your statement on face value but whether or not AT&T owns Lucent stock was not the primary focus of my post. I was responding to JMD's post and although I did choose to post rhetorical questions they remain questions. Thanks for answering the first one. JMD appears to have a formal academic background in business and finance according to his profile. He was pondering the circumstances of recent events. Questions of ethics and lawsuits are of interest to me especially when I am invested in the companies mentioned.

From my perspective it would appear that what has transpired up to this point is what one should expect. I was hoping to get a response from JMD regarding both the plausibility of my view and the nature of the ethical quandary it would present these companies executives.
