Here's the old DIVI/JVC announcement that says the MV40-HD would be ready this fall......
DiviCom and JVC to Jointly Develop HDTV Systems
Compact, Multi-Standard MediaView MV40-HD Combines Strengths of Both Companies
NAB '98, LAS VEGAS, Nev. - April 6, 1998 -- DiviCom Inc. (Nasdaq: CUBE), a leading provider of digital video networking solutions, today announced a collaborative relationship with Victor Company of Japan, Limited (JVC), a world leader in professional and consumer audiovisual products, to design and develop high performance, multi-standard high definition television (HDTV) encoding systems targeted at television service providers.
Each company's contribution to the HDTV project is based on core competencies. The combined effort, currently referred to as the MediaViewT MV40-HD, will leverage DiviCom's skill in building video compression systems and JVC's expertise in digital recording. JVC has committed to developing the microcode, which drives the silicon-level operations of the HDTV system, and a decoding system. DiviCom will design, manufacture and distribute a complete system based on parent company C-Cube Microsystem's DVxpert broadcast encoding silicon solutions and the JVC microcode. Using DVxpert, DiviCom is able to limit the size of the encoding system, keeping the footprint to one rack-unit (1RU). The design of the MediaView MV40-HD is derived from the MediaView MV40, DiviCom's fourth-generation program encoder.
Using the powerful DVxpert platform, the new HDTV family of products will support ATSC and DVB broadcasting standards. In addition, the family of products will support 1080I, 720P and 480P formats, as well as the ability to switch between 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 formats. Development is well under way, and demonstrations of the new HDTV encoding systems are currently slated for Fall 1998.
