Hi erg,

>>how to disable that hoakey log in box<<

1) Click the right mouse button on the 'Network Neighborhood' icon.

2) Select 'Properties' from the drop down list.

3) There will be a drop-down list near the bottom of the resulting dialog box. I don't remember the exact entries in the list, but it should say something like 'Windows Networking'. Change it (there are only two entries) to the other one... something like 'Windows Logon'.

4) Push the 'Apply' or 'OK' button.

5) Reboot and push cancel if it asks you for a login name. It should never ask you again.

**********WARNING*****************
Doing this will disable MS Networking. Your Network Neighborhood icon will go away. If you have more than one machine at home in a network, the networking will no longer work. You can no longer 'Share' your directories or printers.
**********************************

Alternative method
Never turn your machine off or logout, and you will not have to log back in....
