FastTrader is refering to NASD notice to member 98-65 and its application to the NASD manual rule 3350.

Cyber Corp and MB trading didnot allow it before, so no change occurred.

I spoke with the compliance officer at one of my other brokers and they said it would cause no change in procedure.

you cannot short on a down tick, the same as before. Boxed positions or hedges are still allowed.
