Re. DELL, it's a good cash cow and great stock for short/intermediate term.

However, IMHO its long term strategies remain to be defined, and I am not particularly comfortable with its relatively narrow product line. Thus, DELL is not currently in my "Heritage Portfolio" altho I am currently long this stock and hold various options (calls and puts) in a number of straddle plays.

Another comment re. DELL options: in an upleg, I normally preferred to sell DELL puts (and continued the closing and opening of new positions) to buying calls due to the very rich premium (as a result of its volatility) it commands. The call options are very expensive; the sizable cash exposure would render the calls relatively high-risk as compared with put-selling. This strategy has served me well in recent months.

Hope I have answered some of your questions.

Re. time to buy DELL now?-- I wouldn't. But I could be too conservative.
