Sounds like a company trying to save its ass.

We used to call this hacking something together -- I'm sure Encarta uses Unstructured Rapid Prototyping or Just In Time Testing to describe this. Makes me feel comfortable knowing that 5000 people are making changes daily to 30 million lines of code -- this should make it popular with the embedded systems folks.
