Oracle HK says not affected by Asian woes
August 27, 1998 03:04 AM

HONG KONG, Aug 27 (Reuters) - Database software maker Oracle Corp said on Thursday its business had not been affected by the Asian financial turmoil.

"Our business has not been affected by the Asian financial crisis," Arics Poon, Hong Kong general manager of Oracle, told a news conference.

"In fact, our business is growing because our clients are large corporations and they need our database," he said.

Poon said Oracle would launch a new product, Oracle Business Intelligence System (OBIS), on September 16, which will also target small-and medium-size enterprises.

OBIS is an intranet application that delivers business analysis to facilitate fast decision making.
