Captain Kirk- In re: "I agree with Bob, these guys are selling lots
of books and might have a screw loose themselves."

This might be the case except that Brinker himself has cited this
book as one of the very few which he would recommend on this
subject. More than this, Ed Yourdon is hardly a "Kool-Aid" kook,
as you imply. Yourdon has had many decades of computer program-
ming experience and is editor of the respected "American Program-
mer" magazine. His analysis of the Y2K problem on the Art Bell
show last night was quite well-reasoned, sober, measured, and
well-informed-- at least worth the pondering, in my view. Like any
good critic worth his salt, you might wish to listen to Yourdon's
discourse (available at the Art Bell web site via broadcast.com)
before offering dismissive, off-the-cuff opinions about this sub-
ject.
