Tim, interesting article. BTW, are these systems providing internet access as well and does hlit's equipment help for that? I see internet access as the great new driver for cable/telephone. I'm sure by 2000 it will be provided for by telephone so if cable wants to compete they've got a pretty short window, I think. Once people fool around with the internet then that is medium number one, just like tv displaced radio 50 years ago. I guess hlit isn't in the business of provider fiber to telephone companies, right? So hlit's fate is apparently tied in with the fate of the cable companies, which I personally don't find too reassuring. There's no Bill Gates or Michael Dell's in that industry, just a bunch of dumb visionless stiffs as far as I can tell. Most whom are better at sweet talking monopolistic politicians than recognizing innovation...
