Interesting stuff in that interview: asiabiztech.com Syed says that Iomega has an expensive MR tech drive in development that they are trying to re-design for low cost. That sounds like it could be at least a year away. Sanyo's Orb-based VCR will be on sale for Christmas. Aiwa will also have an Orb-based device by this time. They want to be NASDAQ listed by July 1999. All R&D and Marketing will be handled by Castlewood, all manufacturing overseas by their partners. OEM's have been requesting "large quantities" of Orb drives. By March 1999, production will be at 1 million Orb drives/Quarter, and this won't be enough. Sony and Acer may help with additional production. By the year 2000, Castlewood will have developed a 10 Gig GMR head drive.
