Singaara Chennai. chennaionline.com

Say are you from Tamil Nadu ? If so what is the meaning of 'singaara'? I know a song called 'singaara ponnu' {well you know I used to see lot of tamil movies when I was kid}-does it not mean beautiful?

Mohan: I was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu. I lived in Madras from 1955 to 1961 and 1967 to 1968. I am a Telugu and my ancestors immigrated to Tamil nadu during Muslim invasion. We speak Telugu at home, and Tamil outside and were educated in Tamil and English. I love Tamil and consider Tamil as one of the most beautiful languages in the world.
SINGAARA means: Dolled up and beautiful.
Eg: Your ref: Singaara Ponnu.
BTW, even though I am proud of my Indian, Telugu, and Tamil Heritage, I want to consider myself as a citizen of the world in a generic sense. This will keep me in proper perspective and let me appreciate things outside my heritage.
