All their hockey players are playing for Devils and Leaves now - not that I know heck about hockey.

Russia is just like thermometer - takes temperature of Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and a good chunk of US economy too - farmers are hurting, loggers are hurting, miners, truckers - and also all those who sell or buy from them. Russia is weaker, so the big problems are seen there first.
