Thanks so much for the post re: the disk drive industry. if i may, I'd like to summarize and then pontificate some re: my conclusions

Seagate 30M drives
Quantum 23M drives
WDC 20M drives
IBM 11M drives
------------------
80% of the 110M worldwide disk drive industry forcasted for 96

#'s rising to 160M in 98 (when we can realistically expect KM to kick in for a full year of production) moving up to 190M for 99 (got this prediction from disktrend.com I think)

VERY IMPORTANT POINT FROM THE ARTICLE: there's a LOT more money made making and selling the COMPONENTS (of which KM could be one) than selling the whole disk drive itself.

My comments re: the above-- watch who signs! Maxtor doesn't sound like it's a real powerhouse in the disk drive industry, so if they sign, it's not nearly as big a deal as if the above others do. Also, MR is the drive of the future, and thus this is the best scenario, that they sign w/ IBM or Seagate, which are either all or going to be all MR. That's the long term $. It seems the inductive and tripad heads KM has proven to work best with so far are soon to be phased out in a few years. Thanks for that informative post re: the various industry data, I'd been wondering what the various market shares of the big 7 were.

Re: AXC's price, I see it going up this am, thought it'd come down some more yet. Maybe we'll see it drift down more.
