Your response to Alan is quite right. Russia, in and of itself would have little direct impact to corporate earnings. But as part of a big picture globally it is signalling that the Asian deflation is transportable to other economys. Germany, and some of our big banks, have large exposure to Russian debt which they have just defaulted on, regardless of what they say. There so-called moratorium is forever IMO. Couple this with Japan's continued impotence in dealing with their economy and, as you point out, we have a growing confidence crisis.

IMO it is worth waiting a while before buying back into VECO or any other stock. We are in an explosive time.
