My understanding is that foreign investments in the model portfolios are designed to increase diversification and profit from the benefits from the European single currency and united markets. There could also be future profits from a weakening dollar if the US lowers interest rates faster than Europe.

Seems like the days when the international markets moved opposite to the US market are fewer and fewer lately with the improvement in communications and increase in business news reporting on TV and radio.

BTW, if after today, you're down only 2.7%, you've got to be one estute investor - congratulations!
