Sorry my response took so long but sometimes work gets in the way! <g>
I would have to say that I have two reasons: The first would be to avoid any possible complications with the company. They are a major client and a good piece of the bread and butter for our company. What I know is public information, to the people in the area, but possibly not to the stockholders. I would never want to cross the line on want someone could possibly considered insider information.
My REAL investment (my company) is what really matters. What I could offer is information is that any local could gain, but is not worthy of a press release. Things like a digital photo or two, or how many blondes were at the pool <g>. They would be casual items that you might not be able to get without visiting the area.
The second reason would have to be Debra, my wife. We were invested in Vacation Break, long before any rumor of the Fairfield merger. They had a previous merger, with a non-public company that did not come to be. Rode the stock from 22 to 5, and as we continued to believe in the company, bought on the way down. It seemed our buying triggered a sell signal <VBG> as the usually dove in 3 days or less! When we hit <5 I got 3 words out of my mouth and heard NO, NO, NO! I explained logic, fundamentals and so forth. She's in accounting, understands these things, and I still had no success. Neither She nor I, was happy seeing 8k turned into 2k. So we waited....
Along comes an announcement of another merger (This is where Fairfield saved our butt!). This time, no names and no promises. The stock perked up. Debra relaxed (actually said sell and I said that NO thing) and watched closer. When we hit 18 she begged me to get out and I said "if you really want to", so we did. We missed all the fun stuff like 2 F/S and the like. Don't tell her, but it would have been a double in <12 mos., when I finally "said" sell.
Fairfield is a GREAT company! They pay their bills on time, which means we pay OUR bills on time! This is VERY important, to both of us. They don't have an outside lender, for construction, which means more bottom line for you, as an investor. Even though not an investor I am very bullish on this company. If they continue to succeed, we will continue to succeed. This is how I am invested!
Sorry for the long post but I understood your question, from an investor's standpoint. Glad you brought it to my attention. I/we(HDL)/D&J all have our investment in the company, just in a different way!
Hope I clarified my position a little better,
Jeff
P.S. In the future you will get my opinion or Debra's opinion. I'm used to business or personal correspondence. This I/WE/ME/OUR thing is confusing the heck out of me! <VBG>
