Steve,
After being here in Asia for three years I feel like I am starting to develop a true sense of the differences in ethos that exist. They are large already. The "crisis" will only increase the chasm.

<<I wonder how many other Americans are still unaware that what we call "the crisis" exists?>>

I am curious. You getting at all concerned about an exit plan there? The PI seems safer to me then Malaysia. I have taken some steps this week to put my own plans in order frankly. Sold a boat and am trying to sell one of the cars. We bought a small house for my Mother-In-Law (who will never go the States-- she speaks little English and is steeped in the juices of a true Malaysian native). Our plan is to rent out the house until such time as we need it. It may be sooner rather then later. I have also increased currency holdings in USD, ringiit, and $Sing. Not a lot but enough to buy our way out if neccessary. This all may be alarmist. We do not have any civil disorder yet but we are having a rising incidence of crime. We also have increasing layoffs and some rises in food prices. I am treating this very seriously.

Best,
Stitch
