Ken,

I found the whole idea of an incumbent SS7 player (a leader, in fact) commenting about the new entrants' claims in a highly condescending way, a little distasteful, to tell you the truth. I suppose that I've been on a run lately against hyped-out and sometimes intentionally vague and often misleading press releases. Lord knows, there's no shortage of those, though.

I didn't mean that they don't have anything to add, or that their line of wasn't highly competitive. Only that they didn't tell us what that lead was in understandable terms.

I must also note that Tekelec's platforms are vastly more complex than the first pass attempts at it that the startups are beginning to employ now. SS7 has several different parts, operating on three or four different planes, it's hierarchical to a great degree, and requires extreme amounts of diligence to deploy in multicarrier environments, much less environments that are integrated with ITSPs. Perhaps he should have mentioned those issues instead of coining new terms. Then I'd have left it alone. <g>

Regards, Frank C.
