Hello Sonki. My first time on the thread today. I hope you did not go overboard and buy stocks early this morning. My margin. I am not quite sure how much it is right this minute. I reduced it last week but I am sure it is still around 70%. Not the best situation to be in right now.
About Dell. If you had asked me this morning about trading Msft in for Dell, I would probably have said yes. But if I sold Msft now, which I did last week, I would just hold on to the cash instead, which I did. I have said for the last cpl of days that I feel a big upsurge coming in the market even if it should go down further first, but this market is just awful. It is very hard to figure out what will come next. If you listen to all that talk it sounds like the whole world markets are collapsing. Nothing wrong here supposedly but I guess we are partners in crime now, meaning the selloff in our markets. It looks a bit scary. All this talk about Yeltzin stepping down and not knowing for sure what will come next, is nerve wrecking. Talk about Banks collapsing and how German Banks would suffer and now we find out that they are losing nothing. The German Gvt will pick up the tab. Our intl Banks took a big beating today. I guess the shareholders will pick up the tab over here but as far as I could make sense out of the whole thing today is that the total loss of our Banks is really not that much. But of course there is South America too. I don't think anybody knows for sure what's going on and if they do, they are not telling us. We are getting hanged out to dry.

Luckily I did not have much time during the day to think what to do about this market. So I just stayed put and took my losses. I had 1 stock that was unchanged. Lucky me.

I just noticed that the Globex futures are down a lot again. Frank is in the best position now. As long as you are long term it does not matter, I guess. But I would be a bit careful about going bottom fishing at this point. Tomorrow is Friday. Maybe we have another big selloff in the morning and then the market will go up again. But those Summer weekends. Umm.

I don't know if you ever read other things than stock articles on the net. But here is one that was supposed to be reassuring but it did not work for the Globex Futures.

dailynews.yahoo.com

Let's hope the market makes a bottom pretty soon. I stuck everything into this post, so now I just have to give Frank this link. I have not read his message yet but whatever it is, this post will save me from repeating things.

Again, be careful about mortgaging the house and the kitchen sink for stocks before things look more clearer again. If you have at least a 5 year time horizon, I guess it does not matter if you buy in already. I personally will wait until I see clearer waters. Thank goodness I was too busy to buy in the last cpl of days.
