Yes, the religious right certainly is a political group -- and their focus and reason for being is to get laws passed that will force everyone else to live according to what they hold to be right according to their own so-called religious principles.

I say so-called because many of the things they say are based on Christianity just aren't. For instance, there are no Christian family values!!!! Jesus even said, "Unless you hate your father and mother, you cannot love me." He insisted that to follow him, people had to walk away from their family obligations (leave the dead to bury the dead). Also, he did not want people to get married, and if they were married, he did not think they should have children. This is because he believed that the end of the world was actually coming, so it would be wrong to have children.

All the "family values" espoused in the bible are Jewish, not Christian.
