A VISIT TO TLTK IN VEGAS
Here's a lad that has visited the TLTK offices in Vegas and has been kind enough to write down his experience. I pulled this off of American Online.

Well, I'm back from Vegas as of late last night (went to CNBC conference) and did take the time to stop by Teletek offices for about an hour Monday AM. Tom Mills was out of town, but I was given a tour and had questions answered by Mike Conner. I believe his title is "operations mgr",
To say the least, any worries I had regarding the soundness and legitimacy of this company are gone. Mike Conners was more than helpful, open and sincere. The offices are located in the same building as MCI offices, very professional looking. Plenty of "real" people working there. Mike took me across the street to the building where the switching station for Vegas is located and everything looks completely legitimate to me. There are 22 full-time employees and over 100 (he didn't know exact number) of outside sales people across the country selling the service to businesses. The FCC investigation involved previous management and is all cleared up. The loss of service to some customers a couple of weeks ago was not due to non-payment to MCI or anyone else, and TLTK is taking legal action as they were the wronged party. TLTK and HI-Rim are both held by holding company "Hi-Desert". There are no cash flow problems. The Kansas City switching station is installed but not functioning yet, will be by end of month. A third station is planned for the east coast later this year. They have "feature" groups out of Chicago, Phoenix that give path directly to their equipment. ATT will be their "on net" main carrier, still using MCI for "off net". Service is nationwide and worldwide.
Hope this info helps answer some of your questions. In closing I would like to say that Las Vegas is not at the end of the earth, not that expensive to get to, and a fun place to visit. Any of you that hold a large investment in this company might want to consider taking a look for yourselves if you're real worried. The management seemed very open, helpful and professional to me. Oh, and you could always just pick up the phone if you have a fear of flying!
Good luck!
Mauring
PS:
Mike Conner, who appears to be the one in charge of the switching equipment, stated that the second switch had been installed but was not up and running yet. He estimated that it would be by April 22 or thereabouts. |
