KAA,
I agree that American's have a selective memory for recording history but that is a human issue. I have a lot of non American friends and have lived overseas (London, northern Germany, Singapore, Texas...) and we all have a selective memory. When we got on the topic of Hitler I purposefully included Stalin and Pol Pot (the recently deceased Cambodian ruler). But your essential point is correct, the world has had no shortage of atrocities and the global community is invariably slow to respond. For what its worth life under Hitler was bad for a lot of people in addition to the Jews. My family is not Jewish yet we lost a number of people in camps.
I agree that history selectively regards these events. Going forward however, modern communications is shrinking the globe and we will be confronted with these questions more often. My question is how will and/or should the world react. I am not implying either an aggressive or passive posture. I am just asking the question and wondering what is right.
Henry
