I really doubt that the street is questioning the ability of LSI to stay solvent, and while I respect all view points, that seems a little silly. Their purchase of Symbios, IMO, will prove to be a very good deal, given the time to integrate the two companies. I do not know if you stopped to consider that Symbios was a private concern and being so, the idea of trying to accept a public companies stock, in a down market, is out of the question. If someone wanted to buy my firm, then the line of ( Show Me The Money ) comes in to play. The deal that they made , again IMO, was very good. You bought a company who did some 620 million in sales for ( 97 ) for 760 million, that's a P/S ratio of 1.2 The two companies, once fully integrated, will have more product with fewer channels to support, end result, a better cost structure. One more thing to ponder, Symbios has a strong storage business, coupled with LSI's emergence into DVD and consumer applications, there could be some possibilities there. Just a few thoughts.
Take care
