I received the following email from one of my relatives back in India.

Earlier, I put my resume to American Resource Company in response to an advertisment published during Dec'97 in Hindi Daily "Naidunia".
ARC is an exclusive representative [recruiting board] of M.S Inc. The position offered to me is Accountant Jr at an annual salary of US$ 48,200. Other benefits like Dental insurance for self and dependent, subsidised housing for which the co. pays US$ 400 p.m, relocation allowance US$ 4,600 & travelling allowance if required upto US$ 600 p.m.[gross package $ 64,800 p.a].
In the reply I wrote that the package offered is comparatively lower,
then they replied that they can negotiate salary once my petition is
filed. ARC requires a processing fee of US$ 540 by Sep. 11 1998.

With reference to my message of yesterday, can you suggest/guide me,
should I proceed further or not? The documents i.e immigration form,

I have told him so far.
1, NOT to pay.
2, Start effort to get passport etc.
3, Ask American Resources for references and talk to people who have worked with American resources in the past.
4, same with the other company also.
5, I checked business finder section of Altavista and found no listing for either company, no name, address phone number.
6, asked him to get on the web, and do the same using Yahoo, excite or any body else.
Can you think of anything else he can do and not taken to cleaners?
NaiDunia is a Hindi paper in Madhya Pradesh.
