Scott,
Thanks for starting this thread. I don't know if you intend for this to be oriented at all to new traders. But if you do, it would be interesting to me (and I'm sure to others) to hear your perspectives on how a beginning trader gets going.
As a new trader myself, I'm struggling with a number of issues. Specifically,
1. How to establish a focus. There are so many trading styles and approaches that it is easy for a beginner to get confused about which might be most appropriate. I know that it depends to some extent on the trader's mentality, but I'm trying to find a simple approach to begin with that I can grow from as I learn.
2. Position trading in general seems to make sense for me, but I don't completely understand how to get "set up" so to speak. In other words, what tools are needed (software, information sources, etc.)?
3. Do you have a strategy for pursuing basic education in trading (information resources would also be helpful).
4. How to get organized. What does a typical trading day look like in terms of time allocation? What "things" do you do, and how much time do you devote to them?
Any and all responses to this post are welcomed. I hope I'm not overstepping the bounds of this thread, but as a rookie, I know I have a lot to learn, and I'm assuming others would benefit from this info as well.
TIA (and thanks for starting this thread)
