Yes I did go overboard --- Intel still has competition

But a normal company wouldn't spend the huge negative karma Intel does upon trying to exterminate AMD!

As to NOVL, the fit with Intel is not the desktop---if Intel produced a JAVA chip, the desktop would go to Browsers or netpcs to a certain extent---rather the fit is with Intel's need to sell higher margin CPU's into the enterprise where Novell is strong. Novell will have a network operating system capable of managing Nt and UNIX appplication servers at the departmental level whereas NtT doing this is currently a pipedream. If Intel acquired Novell, it would have a compelling argument for taking the middle range share of computer sales away from UNIX. If Intel waits for NT as it is currently doing, it is at Microsoft's mercy. A software acquisition in a targeted market is about the only way for Intel to sensibly diversify in the PC industry. Of course I will be happy to buy the stock back in a recession at 20-30 a share if they continue with their current strategy.
