That's exactly my thoughts. If I were a 3Com, why wouldn't I buy this technology and incorporate it into some of my devices? It seems like the perfect marriage. Just imagine, I plug in a modem/network board with defcon 4 protection. Looking back in time, it wasn't long ago when we have devices the size of shoe box modems sitting next to our PCs transmitting 150 and 300 baud. Now, they are nice slim cards with a very few surface mounted chips that fit nicely inside the case of our machines. Add a few more chips and a switching device and you can have the makings of a bullet proof communication gateway able to stop the hackers dead in their tracks. This eliminates the need for redundant software protection algorithms that can always be tweaked by by the would be evil doings. But, with a hardware protection device, it's like a Mac Truck slamming right into the data stream.
