Developers who were conned into writing programs for MMX may think twice about doing the same for MMX2. Sure, there will be a place for it in a few programs but like MMX it may just be "no big deal".

Why is 3D-Now such a big deal, while MMX2 is going to be "no big deal"? Is it because 3D-Now was first to market? Are you arguing that developers aren't going to support KNI merely because 3D-Now just happened to come first? (Maybe that's what Maxwell was arguing.)

For the moment, let's assume that this is true, and developers give the thumbs-down on KNI because they already like 3D-Now. Then here's a very hypothetical question: Do you think Intel would have a better chance if it make KNI backwards-compatible with 3D-Now?

You see, I have to understand your line of thinking in order to make some intelligent conversation. I've been lurking on this thread for a while, and it seems too much time is spent on cheers and jeers.
