OT: Here are the new regs re TRADING HALTS... Don't come to this board that often (depressing, but I hope for better soon) but just noticed some people have been asking about the new trading halts that were instituted at NYSE last spring. Level 1 circuit breaker kicks w/ an 850 point drop in one day; Level 2 kicks in with a l,750 point drop; and, with Level 3, the NYSE has prepared for the possibility of a drop of 2,600 points. In the last case, trading halts for the day. For Levels 1&2, the cooling-off period varies in length depending on what time of the day the plunge began. Last spring the NYSE was also reevaluating its program-trading curbs at 50 points, but I don't know what the progress of those discussions have been. 50 pts is silly now w/ the market so high (well, until a coupla days ago :o)
